How does DNS work?
Ever wondered what happens when you type a website address into your browser? Here’s a simple breakdown:
- Your browser sends a request to a DNS resolver (usually provided by your internet provider or a public DNS service like Google or Cloudflare).
- Then, the resolver checks its records for the IP address linked to the domain. If it doesn’t have it, it queries other DNS servers.
- After that, once the correct IP address is found, it’s sent back to your browser.
- Finally, your browser connects to the web server, and the website loads.

Domain Name – The human-friendly name of a website (e.g., google.com).
IP Address? – A unique numerical address that identifies a device on the internet.
