Why is there a limit?
To protect our servers from spam and maintain reliable delivery for all users, each hosting account is limited to 200 outbound messages per hour. This restriction helps keep our IP addresses off blacklists and ensures consistent performance.
What are my options if I need to send more?
When you send bulk email that exceeds the hourly limit—whether it’s through an email marketing tool, script, or plugin—you can choose one of the following methods:
1. Use timed batches
Instead of sending all your emails at once, configure your software to send them gradually over time. This method spaces out delivery, helping you stay within the hourly limit and reduce the risk of bounces or blocks.
2. Use an alternative SMTP server
Another approach is to route your emails through a different SMTP server, such as your ISP’s outgoing mail server. ISPs like Bigpond or Optus typically allow higher sending thresholds, which helps you manage larger volumes without hitting our cap.
Sending from Outlook or Apple Mail?
If you’re using an email client like Outlook or Apple Mail to send bulk email, we recommend switching to your ISP’s SMTP server. This option bypasses our 200-message limit and ensures faster delivery of your newsletters or announcements.
